Waaaaaa-wa-Wachusett. You can't help but sing along when this catchy commercial comes on.

Wachusett Mountain in central Massachusetts has been welcoming guests since the 1930s. Ski trails were first cleared by the Civilian Conservation Corps which allowed visitors to walk up and ski down the mountain.

The state later decided that a certain area of the mountain would be reserved for alpine skiing in 1959.

Crowley Family Takes Over

Then, in 1968, Ralph D. Crowley placed a bid to purchase the ski area, turning it into the well-renowned ski resort it is today. Crowley's children still run the mountain which includes family-friendly trails, terrain park, the ski and ride retail shop, restaurant, food court, lounge, waffle cabin, cider house and private rooms which can be reserved for private parties, meetings and more.

The iconic ads are a big part of their rich history. The memorable melody has been sung for over 25 years, but do you know the inspiration behind it?

Inspiration Behind the Jingle

In 1962, The Orlons released a song that reached No. 2 on the U.S. pop charts, sold over one million copies and was ranked No. 24 on the Billboard Magazine's Top 100 singles of 1962.

The song? "The Wah-Watusi." One listen and you'll see the similarity to Wachusett's jingle.

"The Wah-Watusi" has even been featured in Hollywood. It appeared in the 2011 Academy Award nominated film The Help and in an episode of Mama's Family.

Do you hear it? How can you not? This catchy, earworm will now be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.

Sorry, not sorry.
