The top 20 aquariums have been chosen by a panel of experts who based their selections on venues that offer "high-quality exhibits and visitor interactions."

Connecticut Is Home to Two of the Best Aquariums

Mystic Aquarium, located in Mystic, Connecticut, is known for their outdoor attractions featuring their beluga whales and penguins. Step inside to see jellyfish, touch tanks, sharks and so much more.

The Maritime Aquarium is also located in Connecticut. The Norfolk aquarium is the only one dedicated to Long Island Sound. The USA Today nomination cited river otters, sharks and sea turtles among the many sea creatures you can find there.

Massachusetts Aquariums Listed in Top 20

The New England Aquarium in Boston is a popular destination for many. Highlights include their Giant Ocean Tank, coral reef and even the option to take a whale watch.

Woods Hole Science Aquarium is the other Massachusetts' aquarium among the finalists. USA Today shares the importance of the aquarium highlighting maritime research and conservation.
