This week's Tuesday's Child is Kody. He wrote an essay describing himself.

I'm a fifteen-year-old male in 8th grade. My friends describe me as kind, resilient, fun, and loving. I like anything LGBTQ+, board and video games, watching YouTube, The Simpsons (the regular show), Rick and Morty and so much more! I also like flowers, Magic the Gathering (in case you are wondering there are no magic tricks, it is just a card game), making others happy, and reading books (comics, graphic novels, and very long chapter books!). I like reading books at my own pace.

I would like a home that does not care that I collect magic cards (I have a lot). I would like older kids in my home or one around my age. Although I like younger kids and am good with them, I prefer not to have younger kids in my home. I just do not want younger children bombarding me all day, I need my alone time. I'd prefer it if you do not ask me to watch sports with y'all. I want someone to engage with me, to take me out of the house often, to go on hikes or do other things. I love to camp in the woods, but you do not have to do that. I have a group that I go with but will go with you if you want. I have gone on tons of trips with Boy Scouts, including two week-long retreats in one month. I hope to learn about you soon!

Freed for adoption, Kody would fit in well in any family that would help him work through who he is and how he wants to identify.  A family that enjoys keeping busy, but has a structured and predictable home is a must.  He lives in the Springfield area in a group home. Kody has an older sister with whom he is very close. He would like to maintain contact with her on a regular basis. He also would like to maintain a relationship with his mother.

Who Can Adopt

If you’re at least 18, have a stable source of income and have room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ+ singles and couples. As an adoptive parent, you won’t have to pay any fees. Adoption from foster care is completely free in Massachusetts.

The process to adopt a child from foster care includes training, interviews and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you. These steps will help match you with a child or sibling group that will be a good fit.

To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at (617) 964-6273 or visit www.mareinc.org. Start the process today and give a waiting child a permanent place to call home.

See Everything to Explore at the Children's Museum of Greater Fall River

The former Bristol County Superior Courthouse on North Main Street in Fall River has transformed over the last decade into the home of the Children's Museum of Greater Fall River. From exhibits that local families know and love to those totally new features that have debuted in recent months, one thing is for sure: This museum is a must-see SouthCoast attraction and we have the pictures to prove it.
