As America slowly but surely gets shots in the arm, the music industry has its collective fingers crossed for a return of live events and concerts.

It seems like it has been years since we've been able to enjoy live music, and while the idea of going to a show with thousands of other fans seems nearly inconceivable to some, the Xfinity Center in Mansfield has a full slate of shows scheduled for this summer. The operative word here is "scheduled."

What would have been our favorite Xfinity Center show of the season has been canceled. Halsey has already canceled her entire "Manic World Tour." It originally was scheduled for 2020, got bumped to the summer of 2021, but then she completely canceled the tour last month.

None of us, including the artists or their record labels, has any idea whether or not these shows will actually happen. But it's fun to dream, right?

Here are our top five picks for the season:

XFinity Center 2021 Best Picks

The rest of the concert dates look like this:

June 30: Steely Dan and Steve Winwood
July 13: Chicago
July 20: The Black Crowes
July 23: Disturbed
July 30: Rod Stewart and Cheap Trick
August 5: Hall and Oates
August 11: Santana and Earth, Wind and Fire
August 12: The Doobie Brothers
August 14: Jimmy Buffett
August 18: KISS
September 9: Brooks and Dunn
October 2: Chris Stapleton

Is it pure, unadulterated optimism that makes us hope that even a few of these concerts happen? Absolutely, but COVID can't take away our hope!
