Mansfield Shooting Suspect Charged With Murder
MANSFIELD — The man suspected of involvement in the fatal shooting of a Mansfield man on Saturday morning has been charged with murder.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said 22-year-old William O'Brien of Manchester-By-The-Sea is already in custody on illegal firearms charges.
Now, prosecutors say he will be formally arraigned on murder charges later Monday in Attleboro District Court.
State police detectives, Mansfield police, and Bristol County Homicide Unit prosecutors are still investigating the murder of 23-year-old Samuel Waters in Mansfield.
Emergency services received a 911 call reporting the shooting at 11:11 a.m. Saturday.
First responders arrived at 42 West Church St. to find Waters dead at the scene.
O'Brien is being charged with murder by criminal complaint after the D.A.'s office previously announced charges of carrying an illegal firearm and carrying a loaded illegal firearm.
The investigation is ongoing.
