Man Killed at Stop & Shop Distribution Center in Freetown
FREETOWN - A Stoughton man is dead after a workplace accident at the Stop & Shop distribution center in Freetown.
Police Chief Carlton Abbott says shortly after 12:30 A.M. Tuesday 51-year-old Alphonse Ferent fell between a tractor-trailer and a loading dock as the truck pulled away from the facility. A loading jack from the truck fell on top of Ferent, and crushed him.
Freetown first responders were called to the scene and performed first aid before transporting Ferent to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is under investigation.
