Fall River Family Living in Camper After Devastating House Fire

Holiday Wish Week has returned to Fun 107.

Every holiday season, Fun 107 teams up with The United Way of Greater New Bedford to help local families in need. These families have seen hardship and have experienced heartache, and they need a helping hand.

Thanks to heartfelt nominations, we have the chance to help five local families this week, including Janie and Kyle Lewis from Fall River, who have been hit with one obstacle after another this year.

The Lewis’s Story

Janie and Kyle Lewis live in Fall River with their three daughters, 12-year-old Jaylee, 9-year-old Khylee and 1-year-old Ohklee. While caring for their own children, Janie and Kyle have also opened their home to foster children in previous years, but that came to a crashing halt in August when an electrical fire destroyed their apartment.

Since then, the Lewis family has gone from hotel to hotel and ultimately found solace in their family camper.

Then, when Janie was doing the family’s laundry at a local laundromat, the family’s clothing was stolen.

From living out of a camper to tracking down their clothes, Janie and Kyle are also dealing with not one but two vehicles that have broken down, forcing them to rent a car with dwindling money.

Despite all the turmoil, the Lewis family has remained positive and strong for their children.

“Through it all, they hold strong to the belief and the love they have that nothing can stop them from believing things will come together,” said their friend who nominated them.

“They are the most selfless people I have ever met,” said another.

Assistance with their car troubles would make their lives so much easier, and helping with holiday gifts would ease their burden greatly.
