LAKEVILLE (WBSM) — Three people were sent to the hospital this week, with one needing the jaws of life to be rescued, following two separate crashes in Lakeville.

The first crash occurred around midnight on August 26 near Ocean Spray and involved two vehicles.

Firefighters said that there were no significant injuries or need for hospital transportation.

On August 27, firefighters responded to another crash just after noon at the Kenneth Welch Drive and Bedford Street intersection.

One patient was extricated from a vehicle using hydraulic tools, also known as the jaws of life.

According to the fire department, the trapped occupant was freed from the vehicle and on the way to the hospital in less than 20 minutes of the first arriving firefighters.

The adult male was transported to St Luke's Hospital in New Bedford with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The operator of the second vehicle was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton with minor injuries.
