Kids Can Score Free Movies This Summer Just for Reading Books

Want to keep your school-aged child reading through the summer? How about motivating them with free movies at Showcase Cinemas? The theater chain is once again offering free films throughout the summer for kids taking part in Bookworm Wednesdays.

Nothing is better for beating the summer heat than some movie theater air conditioning and you could enjoy some of that for free this season thanks to a program from Showcase Cinemas that promotes summer reading for young kids.

As a mom, I can totally see the win-win in Bookworm Wednesdays. Keeping kids in learning mode throughout the summer isn't easy and having a reward for reading at the ready sounds amazing.

How Do Bookworm Wednesdays Work?

It's a pretty simple concept, kids pick a book, read it and then write a short book report about the story to submit for free movie tickets at several local Showcase Cinemas theaters. Every Wednesday in July is a new movie and a new chance to get reading. They even offer book report forms online to help get you started.

All kids taking part in Bookworm Wednesdays do need to sign up for the program at the Showcase Cinemas website, so tickets to the weekly shows can be reserved in advance and they can enjoy new movies every week.

The Boss Baby: Family Business - July 6th

Spirit: Untamed - July 13th

The Secret Life of Pets 2 - July 20th

Sing 2 - July 27th

If the free movies weren't enough, Showcase Cinemas offers special snacks for this weekly event too. Moviegoers seeing Bookworm Wednesday films can get a 1-2-3 Box with popcorn, candy and a drink for just $5 for these shows.

Best yet parents, you too get into the movie for free (along with kids under six years old) without having to do a book report of your own.

So keep your kids reading this July with some movie incentive. The Showcase Warwick has been recently remodeled with amazing luxury theaters, plus the Showcase Cinema de Lux North Attleboro and the Showcase Cinema de Lux Patriot Place are taking part in this program too.
