Providence Bistro Gets the Spotlight from Jamie Lee Curtis
She may be known as the “Scream Queen,” but temporary Rhode Islander Jamie Lee Curtis has seemingly turned into the ultimate foodie.
Recently, the actress shared her great experience at Little Sister in Providence and had us daydreaming about the Mofongo Benedict.
Now she's giving the spotlight to a farm-to-table bistro along the Providence River called New Rivers, found in a historic building and serving up fresh, local cuisine.
Jamie Lee Curtis Raves About New Rivers
Curtis is in the Ocean State filming Ella McCay, a drama about a young politician who juggles familial issues and a challenging work life while preparing to take over the job of her mentor, the state’s longtime incumbent governor.
The cast and crew have been spotted on the steps of the state house, no doubt the consistent backdrop for the film, but over the weekend, the cast was gathered at New Rivers thanks to Curtis.
“A stone's throw from my apartment is this delicious family-run restaurant (New Rivers) where I hosted a cast dinner with our Director to say thank you to them and for choosing Providence,” Curtis said. “Because the menu switches often I don’t have a picture of the roast chicken and lobster rolls, but you can just imagine, and find out for yourself.”
Curtis is a smart woman. A fresh lobster roll, courtesy of a Rhode Island bistro, is as fresh as it gets.

What to Expect at New Rivers
Beau and Elizabeth Vestal are the proud owners of New Rivers, an establishment that has been in the historic Cogdon and Carpenter Iron Merchant warehouse since 1990.
The couple purchased the restaurant in 2012 and have been hands-on in keeping New Rivers thriving on Steeple Street.
“The restaurant has been and continues to be a forerunner in the local farm-to-table movement; using local farms, dairies, fisheries, wineries, and breweries to craft their seasonal bistro-style menu,” the restaurant notes on its website.
Move over, Yelp. Curtis is our new beacon now for the best eateries in town.
