As you have probably read in past articles, Massachusetts is home to some strange laws. Sure, we are a progressive state, but we still have some laws on the books that are beyond outdated and others that make you say huh? One strange law involves eating at a wake, which is included in the list below.

Now I'm sure nobody is going to throw on the handcuffs if you eat too many sandwiches at a wake, but I have so many questions, including the following:

  • How was 3 chosen as the magic number?
  • Who would be eating that many sandwiches anyway?
  • Why would one be stuffing their face when they're supposed to be paying respect to the deceased?
  • Who works up that kind of appetite at a funeral?

Again, this is just one of those silly laws ot blue laws, if you will, that would never garner any kind of action if you broke it, but it's just weird to think about. Come to think of it all of this food talk has worked up an appetite. I think I'll go have a sandwich right now.
