The holidays are fast approaching, and one of our very favorite traditions here at Fun 107 is our Holiday Wish Week with the United Way of Greater New Bedford. Each morning that week, we'll spotlight a SouthCoast family going through a tough time.

With your help, Fun 107 has made seven years' worth of Holiday Wishes come true, raising $289,973 to help 40 families who live right here on the SouthCoast. With our eighth year of Holiday Wish Week around the corner, we wanted to reach out to the community to find out about local families in need.

The ideal Holiday Wish family is one that has had a difficult 2022. Maybe there has been a sick child, unexpected death of a family member, a loss of a job or the loss of a home. The family must reside on the SouthCoast to qualify. If you know of a family like this, we want to know about them.

Please take just a few minutes to fill out this form before the end of October. Our Holiday Wish Week committee will read through the applications over the first two weeks of November, then vote on which families should be selected.

Michael and Maddie will host Holiday Wish Week Dec. 5-9 this year.

Since Holiday Wish Week began in 2015, Fun 107 listeners have donated enough money to buy:

      • 12 specialty medical equipment items
      • 77 months of rent/mortgage payments
      • 52 utility bills
      • 28 appliances/furniture items
      • 9 nights in hotels (for fire victims)
      • 39 auto repairs and payments
      • 9 home projects including ramps for wheelchairs

These donations have changed the course of families' lives.

The Arruda family in Dartmouth was able to get their disabled father a prosthetic foot.  The Mignault family from New Bedford, which lost a home to fire, was placed in an apartment where they are to this day. The Bumpus family in Dartmouth (once living in a camper on the lot where their burned-out house sat) are now living in two apartments as their home gets rebuilt.

These are just a few of the dozens of families you've helped with Holiday Wish. Let's do it again.
