Here Are 5 Festive Films With Scenes in MA & Rhode Island

If finding a holiday movie to watch is part of your Christmas weekend plans, how about something that also hits close to home?

Several holiday movies (or movies with Christmas featured in them) were filmed in locations around Massachusetts and Rhode Island over the years and we've got five good ones to try out this season.

So snuggle up, grab the remote and search for a few films that can have you saying "Hey, I know that place!" while you watch.

Rhode Island’s Filming History

Rhode Island has become a bit of a Hollywood hotspot in recent years. Movies like Ella McCay and Good Burger 2 that were already released filmed entirely in Ocean State locations and upcoming thrillers Remain and Ghostwriter shot several scenes locally as well.

But what about holiday movies?

Yes, a few of those have filmed around the SouthCoast and beyond as well.

Why the SouthCoast Might Lack Christmas Movies

Sadly our recent lack of snow probably hasn't helped this area become as popular for winter filming as it has for summer filming, but it doesn't mean no holiday movies have happened here. It just means, our selection is a little more limited.

We did however manage to find five movies with holiday themes or Christmas as a main focus, all with several scenes filmed locally.
