Sanderson Sisters Descending on Warwick for Movie Night in the Park
It may not have been 300 years since you've seen the hit Halloween film Hocus Pocus, but it may seem like it. Luckily, the Sanderson sisters are getting ready to descend on a Rhode Island city for a one-night-only showing of the movie right from the cozy autumn venue of an outdoor park.
Movie-goers of all ages, even those that reek of children, can head to the Confreda Soccer Complex on Bend Street on October 15 starting at 5:30 p.m. The movie won't start until 6:30 when it gets a little darker, but there will be food trucks, face painting and much more to keep busy before prior to showtime. Plus, you'll want to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get the family settled and pass out the popcorn and candy.
Don't forget all of the gear you'll need to keep cozy throughout the night. You'll want to pack along chairs and plenty of warm blankets because it is New England in mid-October.
It also wouldn't be a Halloween movie in the park without a costumes. The Warwick Police Department shared that kids are encouraged to wear costumes to the event, and who knows, maybe we'll even see a Sanderson sister or two among the crowd!
A large group of community groups and organizations in Warwick are coming together to put the movie night on, including the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, Wave Federal Credit Union, City of Warwick City Hall, Warwick Firefighters, the Warwick Police Department and the Warwick Public Library.
Can't make it to the movie night in Warwick? No worries. Greater Fall River Re-Creation is teaming up with Mayor Paul Coogan and the City of Fall River for a new take on its annual Halloween party, which will include an outdoor screening of Hocus Pocus. Stay tuned for more details.
Filming is set to start for the Hocus Pocus sequel exclusively in Rhode Island very soon. Design crews for the movie stopped by a New Bedford antique shop last week to gather up a slew of vintage, sometimes spooky items to use as props in the movie, and over in Lincoln, Rhode Island, construction has begun on some of the sets the Sanderson sisters will soon roam. Take a look!
