Guy Fieri, the Mayor of Flavortown, was spotted in Rhode Island yesterday at Olneyville NY System, his "favorite spot" in the Ocean State.

Olneyville NY System has been a staple in Rhode Island since the 1930s. Its website recounts how Nicholas Stevens and his father emigrated to the U.S. from Greece and settled in Brooklyn. They moved to Rhode Island in the 1930s and they have been a tradition ever since, with locations in Providence and Cranston.

Twitter was buzzing as Guy virtually brought us along on his trip to the hot wiener joint on Plainfield Street in Providence. He couldn't help but take a selfie as he entered the restaurant and show them some love to his 3.4 million followers.

He was impressed to learn that the joint is also a recipient of the James Beard Award, which recognizes the "nation’s beloved regional restaurants that are distinguished by their timeless appeal and serve quality food that reflects the character of their communities."

This isn't Guy's first rodeo at "the system." While the hot wieners have yet to be featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, Fieri gave them a spotlight on The Best Thing I Ever Ate in 2010, and he wasn't lying. His enthusiasm for the restaurant was shining brightly on Twitter yesterday as he shared a video of the iconic construction of this Rhode Island delicacy.

I take a lot of pride in being from Rhode Island. I truly believe that my little state is home to some of the best food in the county, and I'm glad that Guy Fieri agrees.
