Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School finally received the green light to hold a graduation ceremony for its graduating class of 2020.

It will take place on Saturday, August 8 at the Jeffrey E. Riley Football field starting at 9:30 a.m.

The approval comes after much discussion on how do ensure it's done safely. In a post on the school's Facebook page, they outline guidelines and protocol for attending, including making sure you complete a pre-registration form.

There are many restrictions including a limit of only two guests per graduate. Seating assignments will be given and they will be strictly enforcing face coverings.

With all the guidelines that had to be put in place to make this happen, I certainly hope the school has enough staff to help keep things organized. This will certainly be one of the first in the area as far as having an actual graduation ceremony so hopefully, everyone will cooperate.

I think many students and parents are just happy they can finally celebrate and be recognized for their accomplishments. Having several GNBVT high school graduates in my family, I know just how hard they worked and I'm sending good vibes that everything goes well so these kids can have the ceremony they deserve.
