Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School has stepped up its efforts to keep students from vaping.

This year, school security has been busy confiscating vapes from students. Whether it’s nicotine or marijuana vape pens, the school has a strict no-vaping policy.

Recently, the school shared a photo on social media showing dozens of vape pens that have been taken from students. The message thanked security team members for their hard work.

“Our security department had a busy year keeping our school community safe," the school said. "One significant challenge we've faced is student vaping. Take a look at the photo of what was confiscated this school year. Thank you to our dedicated security team for their hard work and vigilance! At Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech, we have installed vape detectors in every bathroom. If you are caught vaping, you will be disciplined accordingly.”

The school deserves a lot of praise for these efforts. By taking strong action against vaping, it is showing that it cares about the health and safety of its students. The vape detectors are a smart way to catch vaping and send a message that it won’t be tolerated.

Thanks to the hard work of the security team, vaping at GNBVT has gone down. The school’s efforts not only protect students’ health but also set an example for other schools.
