Obrigado! Obrigado!

I've heard an old local saying that states that a person has not yet "made it" in New Bedford until they're a guest star on The Portuguese Channel's very own Hora Quente with Ricardo Farias.

Well, whether that's a true statement or not, I found myself nervous, my heart racing, as the opening credits popped up on my television on Friday night at 9:30 p.m. (sharp, of course).

I was expecting perhaps a 10-minute interview and ended up watching myself for a solid 25 minutes! Thank goodness the interview went smoothly, because I had totally forgot the initial conversation. Luckily, the producers had faith and ran the entire segment without a single edit. Phew!

As I sat there with a bead of sweat forming on my forehead, slightly crushing my girlfriend's hands with a nervous grip (don't worry, I promise she's OK), I have to say that I sort of felt that "made it on the SouthCoast" feeling. I felt connected with the Portuguese community, and it was awesome.

Once again, to Mr. Farias, you gained a new fan of your show (hopefully I didn't scare off any of your regular viewers) and I have a whole new respect for not only what you do, but the Portuguese station as a whole. It was most certainly an experience that I will never forget and for a moment, I felt as though I was on the Jimmy Kimmel late night show!
