Freetown Contractor Sentenced for Scamming Over $10k From Family
FREETOWN (WBSM) — After scamming a Freetown family out of more than $10,000, a 51-year-old man is now sentenced to two years behind bars.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said Jeffrey Trifone was convicted in Fall River District Court of larceny over $250.
On January 13, 2022, the victim filed a report of a past larceny incident in 2021. In March of that year, the victim contacted Trifone with Pool Solutions to install a swimming pool at his home.
The victim was told the work would be completed in a few months.
It's reported that Trifone also showed the victim different job sites of completed work he allegedly did on other swimming pools.
On April 6, 2021, Trifone met with the victim at his home and executed a contract for a 16x32 kidney-shaped in-ground swimming pool, with a completion date between May and July of 2021.
The victim provided Trifone with a $12,000 check as a deposit. During that time, Trifone stopped responding to messages once the check was cashed.
According to the District Attorney's Office, work was never completed, and materials were never ordered or delivered to the victim's home.
The victim continued to contact Trifone for several months with no answer.
