FREETOWN (WBSM) — A Freetown man has been arrested in connection with the homicide of a woman that occurred Wednesday morning.

According to the D.A.’s Office, Freetown Police received a 911 call located at 92 Chace Road at approximately 4:24 a.m. on Wednesday.

When officers arrived at the house, they found the resident, 44-year-old Heidi Chase, deceased.

Police conducted an investigation and identified the suspect as 58-year-old Matthew Lucas of Freetown.

The D.A.’s Office said that Lucas lived in Chase’s home. The extent of the relationship between Chase and Lucas is not known at this time.

A search to find Lucas was conducted by state and local police.

At 8:40 a.m., Lucas was found hiding in a shed on Burns Lane in Freetown and was arrested by authorities.

Lucas was charged with one count of murder and was arraigned in Fall River District Court on Wednesday.

The D.A.’s Office said the investigation is still ongoing.
