Freetown Police are investigating after they say vandals targeted a cemetery in town for the second time within the past two months.

According to a Facebook post from the police, caretaker John Ashley discovered the latest vandalism at the White Cemetery on Keene Road on Friday morning, with 34 headstones and memorial markers defaced.

The vandals used red spray paint and drew a swastika on one of the headstones. Some marked with a "ha" or the letter V.

Other headstones had messages like “Catch me if you can," "I've been a bad boy," and “I will be back."

Back in mid-March, vandals struck that same cemetery, defacing about 35 headstones with swastikas and messages such as “ha ha ha ha,” and “I’m a psycho,” according to WPRI, and that incident also saw the phrase “I will be back” spray-painted as well.

Freetown Police said anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Shane Kelley at (508) 763-4017.

I live just down the block from the Wooster Street Cemetery and whenever I pass, I am always struck at how odd it is. I decided to go take a deeper look around and see what was beyond the iron gates and stone walls.
