Ever wonder where the local sports stars live and what their house is like? A former Red Sox first baseman has put his Newton home up for sale, giving us all a sneak peek inside.

Clearly, playing professional sports has its advantages. The paycheck for one. Former Red Sox first baseman Eric Hosmer must have gotten a decent one to buy this Newton home on the market for $6.575 million.

Hosmer was only with the Boston baseball team for one season, but he settled in locally quite nicely.

Now his former home at 35 Wykeham Road in Newton is for sale and being shown by the same real estate agency that is selling the former Yankee Candle owner's property in Leverett.

Though this Newton property is not nearly as big as the Leverett one, it is a 1-acre piece of land with a stunning 8,081-square-foot home on it. Plus, Hosmer had good taste.

Inside the brick house are sprawling rooms with lots of natural light, a personal wine cellar and, of course, a fitness center. There's also a cozy home office with a fireplace and so much built-in storage even a total packrat would have room for all their stuff.

The private patio is one of my favorite features and there is lots of lush green lawn all around.

If you've got $6 million to spend on a gorgeous new home, why not one a former Red Sox player lived in? Check out just how Hosmer was living by scrolling through the pictures below.
