Fishermen Save Dog When Heading To Martha’s Vineyard
Dog falls off Martha's Vineyard ferry but is saved by a group of fishermen.
When on the ferry between Falmouth and Martha's Vineyard, a dog had fallen off of the ship. A couple of fishermen were on the rescue and saved the dog.
According to the Capecodtimes, the fishermen were on a boat called the Lovely Day. They noticed a crowd of peopel on the Island Queen was yelling for the fishermen's attention.
Michael Hamel and his crew saw an object floating in the water and decided to go closer to it. They noticed it was a dog swimming and quickly grabbed their net. They were able to scoop the dog up out of the water with their net. The dog was shaken, but otherwise OK.

The manager of the Island Queen, Michael Reposa, told the Cape Cod Times that passengers on the 10:30 a.m. ferry noticed the dog about a mile offshore. The captain tried to circle the dog so that it could be rescued out of the water. Unfortunately, the captain couldn't circle close enough.
Passenger Carol Portier was able to capture some amazing video of the rescue.
