A fire early Saturday caused extensive damage to a single-family, two-story home in New Bedford.

District Fire Chief Steven Beaulieu says the smokey fire broke out just before midnight at 680 Rockdale Avenue.

No one was injured, but five people were displaced by the blaze.

The fire is believed to have started in the rear of the structure, causing heavy damage to a pair of bathrooms, a kitchen, and part of a garage.

Six fire trucks responded. Damage was estimated at between $100,000 and $125,000.
