The Annual Christmas Festival of Lights at The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette takes place from Thanksgiving Day to the Day of Epiphany each year. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the fate of this annual tradition is up in the air for the 67th season. As of right now, the shrine plans on holding the event for 2020-2021. We’ll see if anything changes as time goes on.

According to the website, this year’s theme is “Light from Afar.”

“A light from afar is all that we need to keep on going through our life journey. A ‘Light from Afar’ was enough for the three wise men to embark on a life-changing journey. A ‘Light from Afar,’ led the shepherds of Bethlehem to witness a transforming encounter. A ‘Light from Afar’ gives a sense of direction and hope. We need to be reminded that, despite these challenging times we are experiencing, the ‘Light from Afar’ is still shining ahead of us all.”

Families looking to get into the holiday spirit will be able to witness this spectacle on Thursday, November 26, 2020, and the festival will run through Sunday, January 3, 2021. More than 400,000 lights will cover the shrine's 10 acres. The annual light display will be visible from 5 to 9 pm, free of charge. Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.

The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette is located at 947 Park St. Attleboro, MA. The shrine will post updates on the Facebook page to keep visitors informed.
