‘Jesus Guy’ Has Spent Decades Outside of Fenway Park
Have you seen this man?
If you are a Red Sox fan, chances are you will answer with a resounding yes.
Fenway Park has always been a pilgrimage of sorts. It is a temple for not only Red Sox fans but fans of baseball.
This man, pictured above, has been standing outside that temple of Fenway Park since before Roger Clemens left the Sox to move up to Toronto.
He's always had the same basic message: Turn your life to Jesus, or you are going to Hell. He wears patches with that message on them:
"Repent or Perish."
"Are you saved or lost?"

I remember being a kid and getting a little nervous reading the signs as I'd quickly walk by him, doing everything I could to avoid eye contact. The concept of Hell can be tough for adults to grapple with, never mind kids wearing their gloves to the ballpark hoping to catch a foul ball.
One reason I was probably nervous about this man was because he reminded me of the preacher from the movie Poltergeist.
The character and the Fenway man differed a bit because one of them (the one in the movie) was vocal and insistent. I've never seen the Jesus Saves man, who I believe goes by the name Bob, say anything to anyone in the sea of fans hurrying to get to their seats before first pitch.
The man gets around, though. While my first memories of him were at Fenway Park, I've seen him over the past 30 years outside of the Boston Garden, the House of Blues, Downtown Crossing and even Hampton Beach.
He's always there, patiently handing out pamphlets for decades on end. There's no doubt in his mind.
