Give the kids a jump on Halloween at the YMCA. These holiday events are safe and fun for the whole family. You can stick to your home branch, or try out new locations with the whole YMCA SouthCoast circuit.

Mattapoisett YMCA Boo Bash on Friday, October 18. A fun-filled, not-so-spooky family night to celebrate the season. This will feature many activities including tractor rides (with candle path & glow-in-the-dark rocks), Halloween games, glitter tattoos, popcorn and apple cider, Halloween coloring & craft station, a dance party, and prizes for best costume. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Stoico/FIRSTFED YMCA Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 23. Safe trick or treating in the parking lot. Dress in your Halloween costume, and prepare to have some fun. In addition to trick or treating, children will also be invited to participate in fun Halloween activities, games and crafts. The entrance for children is $5 per child. The Swansea location is also looking for volunteers to decorate their cars and hand out candy. Contact mmahoney@ymcasc.org if you're interested.

Dartmouth YMCA Halloween Harvest Festival & Haunted Trails on Friday, October 25. The Dartmouth YMCA invites families to get into the Haloween spirit at Dartmouth YMCA Halloween Harvest Festival & Haunted Trails event on Friday, October 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. This event is free for families to attend and pumpkins will be available for carving or painting for $5 each. Donations for YMCA Southcoast's annual campaign will also be accepted and greatly appreciated. Activities will include; hayrides, pumpkin carving, arts & crafts, rock wall, archery, and lawn games. After dark, the older participants can walk the haunted trails and tell scary stories by the campfire while still having the option to craft or carve pumpkins in the pavilions.

Gleason Family YMCA Halloween Spooktacular & Safari on Friday, October 25. The Wareham YMCA will take you on a safari and through the jungle at the annual Halloween Spooktacular. Fun for kids ages 10 and under with bounce house, games, treasure hunt, selfie stations, animal pose yoga and more. Free for members and for the general public. The Gleason Y asks for a vegetable canned good donation or $1 for the Thanksgiving Turkey & Trimmings Program. Costumes are optional but welcome.

New Bedford YMCA Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 26. Costume contest for cars and kids from 6-6:30 p.m., with trunk-or-treating until 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per trunk-or-treater. Car entries are free. Call (508) 997-0374 for more information. All proceeds to benefit the New Bedford YMCA Annual Campaign, which provides financial assistance for memberships and programs. Come early for Downtown New Bedford Inc.'s All Treats - No Tricks, a free trick-or-treat event throughout downtown, from 2-5 p.m.
