For those of us who grew up by the water, we often fantasize about growing old by a lake and spending our retired years on a big fancy boat surrounded by acres of land and lots of animals. Is that just me? I can’t be the only one who would like to trade in my fast-paced lifestyle for the easy-going pond life, and it looks like I can get a head start with these free items spotted on Craigslist.

Craigslist is a gold mine if you search the right way. On Thursday, one user from Fall River posted a free boat trailer, with the boat included.

“The boat is parts or junk,” reads the post. “The trailer needs 4 new tires. Trailer is solid other than that.” It’s clear that the pair could use some TLC, but if I could just find a truck with a hitch to pull away this 21-foot boat, I’m one step closer to my retirement plan for a fraction of what I planned on spending. It may be listed as “parts," but if I am savvy enough, maybe it’s a restoration project in the making.

I’m still waiting on my acres of land, but I can get my crew of animals started, thanks to a post from a user in Rochester, looking to get rid of a slew of ducks. Seven Pekin-Rouen mix ducks are free to a good home, and while I have many questions for the seller, my interest is officially peaked.

I can see it now. I take my boat out onto the lake with my school of ducks following closely behind. But in all honesty, I don’t think I could park a boat or house ducks in my condo. So if you’re ready for the pond life, your starting pieces are ready and waiting.
