Fall River’s Four Winds Apartments Toy Drive
Thirteen children from age 10 weeks to 17 years old lost everything, all their toys and most of their clothes.
A fire raged on and destroyed everything in the Four Wind Apartments in Fall River and left nothing for the children or families to go back to.
Everyone was shocked and didn't know what to make of the situation. One of the children, a four-year-old, didn't understand what had happened to her toys but was convinced that they were "safe in my (her) toy box” during the fire. Her family had to explain that they were destroyed, devastating the little girl.
To help rebuild their lives, Father Jay Mello was gracious enough to allow a toy drive, organized by Fall River Native Christopher Peckham, to be held for the 13 children at St. Joseph's Church, located at 1335 North Main Street in Fall River, in the rear parking lot.
The toy drive will be held this Sunday, January 6 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Any contribution is appreciated. All toys must be new so they can be wrapped, and clothes can be new or lightly used.
