It’s just like NASCAR, except the racing will take place on water.

In less than two weeks, some pretty spectacular powerboats will battle it out in the water in the city of Fall River.

Michael Lund, who owns a marina in Fall River, helped organize the offshore powerboat racing event.

According to WJAR 10, powerboats will be making an appearance in New England for the first time in ten years.

The race is free to the public and will take place on Sunday, August 16th at 12pm.

On Saturday the 15th, there is a day of practice that is also open to the public. There will be numerous viewing areas, such as lower Kennedy Park, the boardwalk and Battleship Cove.
