One of the first initiatives for the Fall River “Winterbridge” program is a downtown window display competition. The Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition has extended a call for artists to answer the question: What do you love about Fall River?

FRACC is seeking 10 to 15 local artists to participate in the competition. Artists will be selected by a committee of community members and paired with a local business to create a “We love Fall River” window display. Artists will receive a stipend of $500 and have two weeks to install their creations.

Devon Torres is the coordinator for the Fall River Arts and Culture Coalition and she is excited to see what this project will turn out to be. “We’re hoping that we can get some local artists to create some installations for these local businesses and drive some traffic to those locations.”

First, second, and third-place prizes will be awarded to both the winning artist and business as voted by the community. But hurry, because the submission deadline is on Friday, February 5.

Please send submissions to dtorres@onesouthcoast.com and include the following:

  1. In 100 words or less, describe and/or illustrate what you love about Fall River and your general idea about how you would create a display to show that love.
  2. What supplies would you use?
  3. Please provide an example of your past work.

The selected artists will be notified by Friday, February 12.
