Fall River School Supply Drive Stuffs Backpacks for Students in Need
It's that time when students across the SouthCoast are getting ready to head back to school. But many will head back without basic supplies like pencils and notebooks.
The United Way Of Fall River, along with the Rotary Club of Greater Fall River, spent their summer getting donations to help those students and teachers in need. Their efforts included a school supply drive that took place at the Fall River Walmart on August 10.
Fun 107 was there helping out, and seeing people pull up with bags and even carts full of school supplies to donate was such an amazing sight.
The best part of all of this is hearing that we can provide 200 students in Fall River with the school supplies they need. They don't have to worry about having a pencil to write their homework down.
The school supplies were distributed to needy students by three organizations: United Neighbors, Family Services and Child and Family Services.
I had the opportunity to help stuff the backpacks with an amazing group of people from all three organizations, and boy was I impressed. They have it down to a science. I was excited to hear that this year, they could provide school supplies for 50 more students than they did last year, and can also help teachers with supplies they may need.
You can still donate to the United Way with just a simple text. Just text "BackPack2School" to 44-321, or you can visit the United Way of Greater Fall River's website.
