I'm dubbing this story "a tale of two eateries," where west and east meet in the middle for one tasty creation.

Two beloved Fall River eateries have joined forces to create a culinary masterpiece that’s turning heads – and taste buds.

Christopher’s Eatery on South Main Street and Mr. Chen’s on Rhode Island Avenue have launched a limited-edition General Tso’s Chicken Sandwich, unlike anything the area has seen before.

This towering creation features General Tso’s fried chicken, a fresh Asian slaw, Christopher’s signature avocado mayo, and is served on a scratch-made brioche bun.

The collaboration between the two restaurants, led by Christopher and Nate Silvia of Christopher’s and Dominic Chen of Mr. Chen’s, has already created a buzz in the local food scene.

After debuting today, the sandwich racked up more than 200 orders, catching the attention of hungry foodies across Fall River.

"Dom’s a friend, and he’s been a part of our community events in the past," Chris Silvia said. "I came up with this idea last week, kind of jokingly, and he immediately said, ‘hell yes.’ I spent two days perfecting the fried chicken, and he reformulated his General Tso’s sauce. I handled the southern fried batter, the Asian slaw, and the avocado mayo."

Chen echoed the excitement.

“Chris and I see eye-to-eye on running a kitchen and giving back to the community," he said. "Working with him was a breeze. I’m prepping the chicken for him, and he’s giving me his recipe for that southern-style fried chicken that’s as good, if not better, than KFC or Popeye’s. It’s a sandwich on steroids.”

This is a perfect example of the power of small businesses coming together to create something special for their community, and with rave reviews pouring in, it’s clear that this partnership has hit the sweet – and savory – spot.

For those who pre-ordered, this sandwich will be available on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christopher’s and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mr. Chen's.
