Fall River Police Involved in Fatal Shooting
FALL RIVER — Police are investigating after an officer-involved shooting left a Fall River man dead on Monday evening.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said that 30-year-old Anthony Harden was shot in a struggle after police came to his home to speak with him about a previous domestic violence incident.
Officers arrived at his Melville Street apartment just after 6 p.m. Monday, after speaking with the female victim on Lowell Street earlier that evening.
According to Quinn, an altercation ensued and Harden was shot.
He was rushed to St. Anne's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The district attorney said that a knife was found at the scene, although it is unclear if Harden was using it to threaten police.
Both officers involved were also taken to the hospital for a precautionary evaluation.
Police are investigating the incident, including interviewing witnesses.
No further information has been released.
