The post and the page where it was posted were immediately taken down, according to the statement.

The nature of the threat or of the post was not disclosed.

Officials said since the post was made outside of Massachusetts, Fall River police deemed it to not be a credible threat, so the school was not closed.

The school department will conduct precautionary morning safety checks on random days, and there will continue to be an increased police presence, the statement noted.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

If the post is traced back to a Fall River student, the person will be criminally charged, according to the statement.

The person will also face disciplinary action.
