Fall River Woman Charged With Stealing Child’s Benefits
BOSTON (WBSM) — A Fall River woman was arrested Tuesday and faces federal charges for allegedly stealing nearly $87,000 in Social Security benefits intended for her child.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Nancy Taylor, 44, was charged with one count of theft of public funds in U.S. District Court in Boston.
She was released on conditions after an initial appearance before a magistrate.

The indictment alleges that from May 2016 through May 2022, Taylor embezzled about $86,994.58 in Social Security benefits that were meant for her minor child.
If convicted, Taylor faces a sentence of no greater than 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
