FALL RIVER — A homicide investigation in Fall River is ongoing, after a city man was killed over the weekend.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said 23-year-old Diamonte Odom died early Sunday morning at the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound on Saturday night.

Fall River police received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired near 275 County St. at around 10:44 p.m. Saturday, according to the D.A.'s office.

First responders arrived to find a male victim — later identified as Odom — lying on a sidewalk.

He was found to have a gunshot wound and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence for treatment, but was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. Sunday.

In a release Sunday, the D.A.'s office said that no suspects are in custody.

The investigation is "extremely active," according to the release.

No further information has been disclosed.
