Fall River Credit Insanely Outdated Credit Union Gets Jaw-Dropping Makeover
Wait until you see these stunning before and after pictures of what has been done to the former Garment Workers Federal Credit Union.
It's been a little over two years since we first told you about a "groovy" former credit union building that was for sale in the city of Fall River.
It was built in the early 1970s and at the time of the article publishing, it looked like the decor was never touched again since the Carter administration.
"There's an interesting piece of commercial real estate available in Fall River for $499,000, but only if you're groovy enough to own it. The building that once housed the Garment Workers Federal Credit Union is up for grabs, and it's like taking a trip back in a time machine. Hop in your DeLorean and take a ride down to 146 18th St. in Fall River, right behind Saber TV. When you see the 3,200-square-foot stucco building, you'll know you have arrived in 1973, the year that it was built."
It makes me wonder how people trusted handing over their cash to a financial institution with such grossly outdated style, but maybe they enjoyed the no-frills approach.
We got a message from Michael J. Amaral, a broker and owner at Amaral Associates Real Estate, Inc. Amaral wanted to share pictures of what this retro bank looks like just two short years later.

It appears that a developer got a hold of the property and went berserk. The credit union was turned into a side-by-side duplex. Part of the lot was sold to a builder who will be constructing a new single-family home.
Below are photos of the way the credit union used to look. Those pictures will be followed by what that space looks like now.
