Fall River Business Bringing Pokémon Legend to the SouthCoast
If you want to be the very best, like no one ever was, then Fall River is the place to be because it’s about to catch ‘em all, including a piece of pop culture history.
Thanks to Globe Street Convenience, the legendary voice behind the original Pokémon theme song, Jason Paige, is coming to the SouthCoast for a one-day event packed with music, autographs and nostalgia.
Paige will be in Fall River on Thursday, July 17, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a special meet-and-greet and live performance, with a Q&A session and autograph opportunities for fans of all ages.
To make the day even bigger, Fun 107 will be broadcasting live from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., bringing the hype and giving fans a chance to be part of the action on-air.
Meet the Power Couple Behind the Event
Owners Will Brightman and Cynthia Abella, who took over Globe Street Convenience just two months ago, are the driving force behind the event. Known for stocking exotic snacks from around the world, TikTok-famous Labubu dolls and collectible hobby cards, the store at 337 Globe Street has already been turning heads in the local community, and even landed a feature on Fox News for its unique inventory.

“We’re more than just your typical corner store,” Abella said. “We wanted to bring something exciting to Fall River, and this is only the beginning.”

From Florida Card Show to SouthCoast Surprise
It all started when Brightman and Abella, who frequently attend collectible card shows in Florida, connected with Paige’s manager. A signed Pokémon card sparked a social media tag, and Paige himself responded. From there, the plan to bring him to Massachusetts was born.
“He’ll be performing, signing autographs, and even answering fan questions,” Brightman said. “It’s going to be something you won’t want to miss.”

Location Still TBD, But Fall River Is the Mission
While the final venue is still being determined, the couple is committed to keeping the event in Fall River.
“We want to give back to the community that’s welcomed us,” Brightman said. “We’re scouting a few places and want to make sure it’s big enough to fit the energy Jason brings.”
Some venues under consideration include local halls, parks and cultural centers. Updates will be shared soon, so fans are encouraged to stay tuned to Fun 107 and Globe Street Convenience’s social media for the official location announcement.
