Fall River Bar Offers Discounts for ‘Shredding Your Ex’ on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is all about love, right? Well, at Shorty’s Pub in Fall River, it’s also about a little bit of revenge – and dessert.

What started as a joke quickly turned into a full-fledged promotion when the Aetna Street bar put up a flyer that caught fire (not literally, but close).

The deal?

Bring in a photo of your ex, shred it, and get 10 percent off your bill. Bring in a picture of you with your ex, and you’ll score 15 percent off.

The real kicker? Bring both your ex and your current partner, and you’ll be rewarded with free dessert.

It's a bold move, but hey, "if it's free, it's for me," that's what I always say.

“This will be an absolute blast and funny as hell!” the bar teased in its flyer, promising a weekend-long Valentine’s party starting Thursday, February 13.

Owner Kevin Verissimo admitted he initially posted the flyer as a joke, but after seeing the overwhelming response, he had no choice but to roll with it.

“I did it just to get a little attention, but everyone seems to be loving it,” he laughed.

Reactions have ranged from “This is hysterical!” to “Too funny, but I burned those pics years ago.” Either way, Shorty’s is turning Valentine’s Day heartbreak into a sweet deal.

The party kicks off on Thursday with a karaoke party hosted by DJ Dan Mac, followed by an "All Request" DJ Dance Party with DJ AJ on Valentine's Day. For the weekend, Wild Nites Band takes the stage on Saturday night and then Joe Macaluso is ending the party with a bang for a little "Sunday Funday."

Whether you’re celebrating love, embracing the single life, or just in it for the food or adult beverages, one thing’s for sure: this might be the pettiest discount in town.
