Fall River Woman Shines on Drew Barrymore Show with Carrie Bradshaw-Inspired Style
Katie Greene, a familiar face on the SouthCoast, recently made her debut on The Drew Barrymore Show as part of Drew's special birthday episode.
Greene, the VP of Marketing and Events at One SouthCoast Chamber, joined the Fun 107 Morning Show to talk about her once-in-a-lifetime experience on national television.
Katie’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show stemmed from a blog post she wrote five years ago on her website, Styling Harvard. In the post, she recreated iconic looks worn by Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City, a character she’s admired for years.
Little did she know that a blog she had long since forgotten would resurface, catching the attention of the show's producers.
“They emailed me out of the blue, and I thought it was fake at first,” Greene recalled with a laugh.
After verifying the opportunity, Katie was invited to New York to participate in a segment about women who channel Carrie Bradshaw’s fashion sense. Her adventure began when she took the train from Providence on October 9 for the taping, which aired on October 11.
Although Greene didn’t get to spend time with Drew off-camera, she still cherished the experience.
“We only really interacted with her during the taping. It was a little disappointing not to get a picture with her, but she’s a busy woman," she said.
Despite some minor nerves and a small name mispronunciation – referring to designer Christian Siriano as “Christian Soriano” – Greene embraced the moment.
Here's Greene's big moment three minutes into the video:
Her journey to New York wasn’t reimbursed, but that didn’t dampen her spirits.
“It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I wasn’t going to let the cost stop me,” she said.
Let this be a reminder that sometimes the things we do for fun can lead to unexpected opportunities.
