Fairhaven’s M.O. L.I.F.E. Celebrates 30 Years of Making a Difference

It's a milestone year for M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc., as the nonprofit marks 30 years of helping people with disabilities. We spoke with the M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. President and CEO, Charlie Murphy, as part of the Southcoast Health Community Spotlight.

M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. was started in his basement. Now, they have 70 workers and help over 200 people. Even Charlie is amazed at how much they have grown.

The M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. Mission

M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. is all about helping people with disabilities live better lives by facilitating job opportunities and community memberships.  Some local businesses that have hired M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. employees include 508 Sneakers, 99 Restaurants, and Bocca.

"We ask people about their dreams when they first join," says Murphy. "We want to know what job they want and how they can help the community. Then, M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. helps them make it happen. Our goal is to remove obstacles and make dreams come true."

While M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. deliberately remains small, the rewarding work takes a lot of effort and requires funding. "We depend on support from our state contracts, donations, volunteers from our community members, and the success of our fundraisers to continue our mission of quality individualized attention and care of the individuals we support."

M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. 30th Anniversary Gala

To celebrate the 30 year milestone, M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. is hosting a gala at the Venus de Milo on March 28th. The party will feature an appearance by Deborah Tonelli, who had a role on the television show, Dallas.

The Katie Brienzo Memorial Award will also be presented at the gala. This will be M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc.'s most important fundraiser of the year.

M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. is Expanding

Later this month, M.O. L.I.F.E. Inc. will open a new location in Middleboro that will be dedicated to extending their help to people in the Taunton and Middleboro areas.
