For the 11th consecutive year, certified yoga instructor Jeff Costa and Sue Grace of  EncorENTERTAINMENT continue to offer free yoga sessions at Cushman Park in Fairhaven.

The classes begin Tuesday, June 21 at 8:30 a.m. and will continue for 10 weeks.

Costa and Grace stopped by Townsquare Sunday this week to discuss the benefits of the program and the strong community support for it.

"The beauty of yoga and fitness is that it may take some energy to get started – 90 percent is showing up – but then an hour later, when it's over, you have more energy, more vitality, a clear mind and peaceful body," Costa said.

Coupled with the yoga program is the free Summer Bootcamp, which begins on Thursday, June 23 at 8:30 a.m. and also runs for 10 weeks. Wayne Goulart runs the bootcamp and is a certified personal trainer. It features exercises that build functional strength and core stability.

Both programs are made possible thanks to donations from more than 20 local businesses.

"We've been able to continue for 11 years because of community support," Grace said. "Every year, we have sponsors that help us out, and that's reason we can have these classes remain free to the public."

The two said they have no plans to slow down. The programs continue to grow, from a handful of participants 11 years ago to hundreds of people now. All ages and skill levels are welcomed to attend.
