FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — Authorities have released the name of the man who died after being pulled from the water in Fairhaven on Tuesday.

According to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III, the victim was Wayne Silveira, 77, of Acushnet.

Emergency Response and CPR Efforts

The D.A.’s Office said that Fairhaven Police and EMS received a 911 call at about 5:01 p.m. on July 22 for a possible drowning near the Seaview Avenue boat ramp in the Sconticut Neck section of town.

First responders arrived to find Silveira unconscious at the boat ramp after being pulled from the water, with a civilian providing CPR.

Silveira Pronounced Deceased at Hospital

Silveira was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The D.A.’s Office said Silveira’s death is not considered suspicious but it remains under investigation by Fairhaven Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the D.A.’s Office.
