Our veterans and military are the backbone of this country.

The Fairhaven VFW Post 2892 found out a way to give back to their country and to those who have served. They ordered a special sign that reserves a parking spot (painted purple to signify Purple Heart recipients) for wounded warriors and those who have been injured in militant combat.

I spoke to VFW Post 2892 Commander/United States Army Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Cardoza and United States Army Staff Sergeant George Brownell, who discovered the idea from an online Wounded Warriors Family Support Organization. Together, the local veterans cleaned up the parking lot, planted the foundation of the sign and stained the asphalt purple.

Their mission: to encourage VFW's and businesses across the nation to install the parking spot to honor and recognize those who have gave more than just their service to this country.
