What a week it has been for Fairhaven senior Justin Marques. The Blue Devil running back powered his team back to their second straight final four appearance, but not before scoring his record-breaking career touchdowns.

No other Massachusetts player, in the history of football, has ever scored more touchdowns over the course of their high school career. Not bad.

As Marques and his teammates prepare for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Swampscott at Milford High School, word has come that the elite running back has drawn the attention of Sports Illustrated.

He has been nominated for Sports Illustrated's Athlete of the Week!

"Marques tallied 184 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 40 physical carries as Fairhaven edged out Lynnfield in overtime, 36-34. Marques has over 103 career touchdowns, the most in Massachusetts state history. The previous record was 101 set by Walpole's Ryan Izzo in 2009," Sports Illustrated wrote as a description of his nomination.

If you'd like to vote for the hometown boy, you can do so by going onto SI.com and scrolling all the way down to the green box. Marques is listed as one of the 26 options.

Landing some national recognition would be nice, but rest assured Marques is keeping his eye on the prize. The young man wants to bring a second straight state title to Huttleston Ave. No individual award or recognition would be a substitute for that.

The only exception might be an award for a dance off with Fun 107's morning show. To be fair, though, Marques probably has that covered too, as evidenced by the Instagram video above.

Marques is currently being recruited by schools like Boston College, Harvard and UMass Amherst.
