A Fall River student is raising funds to make Durfee High School's salon accessible to all.

This super impressive senior, Sarah Carvalho had an experience last year where a student in a wheelchair was unable to enjoy the services of Durfee's cosmetology program. Seems the wash basins aren't handi-capped accessible and she couldn't fit her client in for a wash.

So Carlvaho did something about it.

As she told the Herald News, the experience hit close to home, since her own mother has special needs. So she did some research on handi-capped accessible wash basins and their cost, but was told that the school wouldn't be able to purchase one.

That's when this undeterred senior started her GoFundMe page called “Making Beauty Handicap Accessible.”

Carvalho told the Herald her initial goal was $200, to purchase a $150 handicapped-accessible wash basin...but at the time of this article she has nearly $700!

Now the goal is to make the whole salon handicapped-accessible, from the wash basins to the nail stations.

So what can you do to help?

Well every little bit counts, so whatever you can donate to the cause you can do so at Carvalho's GoFundMe page. Get the link above and help out this amazing local student helping to improve her schools for years to come!
