Downtown Tree Lighting Marks Beginning of Holiday Season in the City
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown New Bedford after the annual tree lighting ceremony Saturday evening.
The ceremony included holiday wishes from elected officials, performances by the New Bedford High School Marching Band, the All-City Middle School Marching Band and Color Guard, local artist Samantha Johnson and of course, an Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
Hundreds of people attended the lighting ceremony, then took some time to snap pictures under the tree.
The downtown tree lighting is only the beginning of holiday festivities in the city, as many more are scheduled over the next few weeks.
