If you've passed through Dartmouth Towne Center recently, you may have noticed new signage next to Sally's Beauty Supply promoting the SouthCoast's newest dessert shop.

Seemingly out of nowhere came word that Crumbl Cookies is coming to Dartmouth and if this location follows the path of others in the area, we'll have some tasty cookies to try in just a few months.

The Crumbl website advertises a variety of cookies, including chocolate-covered strawberry, chocolate caramel, New York cheesecake and milk chocolate chip.

Gourmet cookie lovers on the SouthCoast have had to travel to Attleboro or Plymouth to try these celebrated cookies, but a handful of new nearby stores are opening over the next few months.

Rhode Island is just days away from its first Crumbl Cookies opening in East Greenwich. Feb. 24 will be the grand opening for that store on Division Street.

Patriots Place in Foxboro is also getting a Crumbl Cookies soon, though the website still says opening day is winter 2022 and that time frame has clearly passed.

Up in Smithfield, Rhode Island, yet another Crumbl Cookies shop is under construction at The Crossing at Smithfield in the former Chipotle spot. The location aims to open in three to four months if everything goes as planned, giving the SouthCoast hope for its Crumbl Cookies future.

If this three- to four-month plan is typical of Crumbl Cookies build-outs, then perhaps the Dartmouth Towne Center location will be open by early summer.

We'd happily take it earlier though.

The Dartmouth location is not on the Crumbl Cookies website, nor are there any job postings for positions at the new store. We have reached out to the national chain for more information, but at the time of this posting had not heard back.

Still, the sign gives us hope for our crave-worthy cookie future here on the SouthCoast.
