Dartmouth Sunrise Bakery Nears Opening After Delays
It has been a wild ride for Richard Freeman. His dream of owning the Dartmouth location of Sunrise Bakery and Coffee Shops has been years in the making, and now he is inching closer to making it a reality.
"Just from Fun 107's help, the Town stepped in, and I think I've gotten more done in the past two weeks than I was able to accomplish in the previous three and a half months," Freeman said. "I'm a lot closer. The Town has been working with me, which is all I really wanted in the beginning."
The "Help Wanted" sign is now on display at the Dartmouth Sunrise Bakery location. The bakery has already hired nine staff members but is looking for many more ahead of its upcoming opening.

When Will Sunrise in Dartmouth Open?
Freeman estimates a soft opening will happen "sometime in the next two weeks."
"But the thing is, I've been saying two weeks for the last two weeks," he said. "I'm shooting for the end of February or the beginning of March."
The Dartmouth location will start with a soft opening, with plans to delay the launch of the drive-thru window until the rest of the operation is running smoothly.
"Our opening didn't go as planned," he said. "We couldn't get people trained, we couldn't set up the menus properly, but now that things are moving full speed ahead, we're trying to play catch-up."

What Is Sunrise Waiting On?
The restaurant is currently waiting on the plumbing inspector to sign off on final paperwork. Once that happens, the next step is approval from the health department, according to Freeman.
Meanwhile, Dartmouth residents are waiting with bated breath for the legendary bakery to reopen. It shouldn't be long now.
